  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 3 medium apples
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar
  1. Beat together the melted butter, sugar, and egg until light and fluffy. Peel and core the apples, and slice into thin pieces.
  2. Fold the apples and walnuts into the butter mixture. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  3. Stir the flour mixture into the wet mixture until just blended. Spread the batter evenly in a prepared square baking tin.
  4. Bake for 35 minutes in a 180° oven, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre, comes out clean.
